Meet The USA 2017 Conference
On June 7th, 2017, the first Meet The USA Conference was jointly held successfully by The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, HCMC People’s Committee, the U.S. Consulate and AmCham Vietnam-HCMC at the InterContinental Saigon. The event themed “How to Continue Growth in U.S.-Vietnam Trade Relations” gathered top leaders of the Vietnam central government, provinces, US government and enterprises with the total of more than 300 attendees. There is huge opportunity for Vietnam and the US to further boost investment and trade ties in many sectors.
At the event, provincial leaders, officials from several Ministries and U.S. company representatives shared their successful stories, projects they have been done and their development plans in Vietnam. To start with, a panel discussion was held with the topic of Vietnam – U.S. trade framework 2017 – 2020 with the participation of Ms. Mary Tarnowka – Consul General of U.S. Consulate General in HCMC, Mr. Do Thang Hai – Vice Minister of Ministry of Industry and Trade and some others officials.
As the highlights of this conference, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Long – Director General, Department of Foreign Affairs of Provinces, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, moderated 7 case studies including IT – Smart Cities, CSR – An American Company Value, Major Energy Project, Waste Disposal Project, Hi-tech Agriculture Supply Chain, Healthcare – Pharmaceutical and Education. With the attendance of many foreigners in this event, some interesting videos about provinces in Vietnam was showed to deepen their knowledge as well as to showcase the beautiful scenes and fast growing economy of Vietnam, which attracted many investors. Especially, enterprises who were considering of investing to specific province had the chance to have one-on-one meeting with their interested provincial leaders during event. This was a good opportunity for them to understand more about their future investment place and ask more about specific investment regulations and incentives there.
